Membership Policy
The Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce is a 501(c)(6) membership organization. The following reflects the Chamber's Membership policies, which are subject to change with Board approval.
Chamber Membership Terms
- Any individual, partnership, corporation, limited liability company, association, trust or other entity with a valid Unified Business Identifier (UBI) and/or Employer Identification Number (EIN), residing or actively engaged in a lawful business or profession in the Seattle or surrounding areas, and interested in furthering the objectives of the Chamber may become an active member of the Chamber and shall enjoy all of the rights and benefits of Chamber membership upon submitting an application for active membership and paying dues. Admission of Members
- Membership dues cover a membership year beginning at the time the member joins and ending after twelve months. Membership is renewable on the member’s anniversary month each year.
- Dues, which are subject to change in price and/or small increase annually, are paid in advance and are continuous until cancelled in writing in advance of the due date.
- Chamber membership dues and fees are non-refundable.
Termination of Membership
- Resignation: Any Active Member or Honorary Member may resign by submitting a written notice of voluntary resignation to the Chamber. Resignation shall not release any Active Member from liability for dues accrued and unpaid at the time such resignation is submitted.
- Termination for Nonpayment: The Chamber may immediately terminate the membership of any Active Member for failing to pay dues for a period of at least three (3) months after they are due.
- Termination for Cause: After thirty (30) days’ prior written notice of the intent to terminate and opportunity to be heard, the Chamber reserves the right to deny membership, or cancel membership, in accordance with the organization’s bylaws or core values.
Personal and Professional Integrity
- We expect all members shall treat Chamber employees and Chamber members without discrimination or conduct that can be considered harassing, coercive, or disruptive.
Privacy Statement
- The Chamber is committed to protecting the privacy of members' personal information.
Member Level Criteria
- Entrepreneur Level is reserved for small businesses with 25 or fewer employees and small non-profits (501c3 status).
- Corporate Level and above is open to all businesses that meet the Chamber membership terms (stated above).
Code of Conduct
Code of Conduct for Chamber Members The Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce (the “Chamber”) provides events and opportunities for members to network, exchange ideas, stay informed, and collaborate. We strive to create an inclusive, welcoming and harassment free environment where diverse opinions, experiences, and perspectives can be expressed through civil discourse. This Code of Conduct outlines the behaviors expected of all Chamber Members and each Member’s designee or representatives participating in Chamber Events:
• Treat everyone with dignity and respect
• Not discriminate against someone based on their race, color, religion, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation, and pregnancy), national origin, age, veteran status, disability, or genetic information (including family medical history), or any other protected characteristic or activity
• Act in a civil, professional manner and engage in event programming with integrity and in good faith.
• Not participate in any form of harassment, including verbal, physical, or emotional abuse.
• Refrain from disruptive, destructive, or intimidating behavior.
• Conduct business in a truthful and non-deceptive manner that maintains confidentiality, where applicable and complies with local laws and standards of your industry.
If you feel you have been the subject of conduct that violates our Code, or have witnessed conduct that violates our Code at a Chamber event, please bring the incident to the attention of Chamber staff as soon as possible. Any reports of conduct violating this Code of Conduct, will be addressed by Chamber leadership and will be managed with sensitivity and discretion. Any individual can report good faith concerns, and honestly participate in investigations or proceedings regarding such concerns, without fear of discipline or retaliation of any kind.
Any participant at a Chamber event who is asked to stop behavior that is outlined above is expected to comply immediately. If a participant continues to engage in behavior that on-site Chamber Staff determines, in its sole and absolute discretion, violates this Code of Conduct, the Chamber reserves the right, at the full discretion of on-site Chamber staff, to remove a participant from an event.
The Chamber reserves the right to deny future event participation to any individual or organization who has engaged in conduct violating this Code of Conduct at a previous event. The Chamber also retains the right to deny event participation to any individual or organization if the staff reasonably believe that person or group will engage in such behavior. The Chamber retains the right to revoke Chamber membership at its discretion due to a violation of this Code of Conduct.
This Code of Conduct may be revised at any time by the Chamber. The terms of this and future codes of conduct are non-negotiable.
